After Disney+ Hotstar announced a bunch of digital releases of Bollywood films yesterday, Rohit Shetty's cop drama film Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan's 83 to not drop digitally. The official statement has come after there were many speculations regarding their releases. Sooryavanshi was supposed to hit the theatres in March when the lockdown happened and the makers postponed the release. Likewise, 83 had a release date in May but the nation was in the state of the lockdown with no news about the reopening of theatres yet.
Yesterday, Alia Bhatt's Sadak 2, Akshay Kumar's Laxxmi Bomb, Ajay Devgn's Bhuj and Abhishek Bachchan's The Big Bull released their new posters and announced their digital release between the months of July and October. Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's Dil Bechara is going to be the first in the queue to release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 24.
The Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar told a leading website, *Yes, both Sooryavanshi and ’83 are confirmed for Diwali and Christmas respectively”. He also added, “We are committed to bringing both Sooryavanshi and ’83in theatres whenever the exhibitors are open and whenever the audiences feel safe and comfortable to come back to cinemas. We feel and we hope that by Diwali and Christmas, the situation will be normal.”
