Devotional and mythological films always had a good run in the Telugu film industry. Many of them also became a heavy money-spinners at the box office. One such film is Annamayya. This K. Raghavendra Rao directorial remained as a classic in Telugu devotional spectrum. Today, the film celebrates 23 years of its release. On this occasion, Raghavendra Rao reminisced the memories of the film with a tweet. He said that he will always cherish the experiences of it.

 
Earlier today, Raghavendra Rao tweeted, "Just a day before my birthday, I recall how 23 years ago today, a very special film released. #Annamayya is a film I will cherish all my life and I thank the almighty for giving me the opportunity to make a film on his divine existence."
 
Annamayya is the biographical drama of Lord Venkateshwara's devotee Annamacharya. It featured Nagarjuna, Kasturi and Ramya Krishna in the lead roles. Till then, Akkineni Nagarjuna was popular for playing romantic hero roles. But Annamayya transformed his image. He played his part with so much perfection that people started imagining Annamayya in him. Annamayya also featured Mohan Babu, Roja, Suman and Bhanu Priya in the other important roles.
 
The music of the film got composed by MM Keeravani. The whole music album was a huge hit and all songs still remain as classic. Till today, all Annamayya songs play at many temples across the Telugu states. Such is the impact created by them. The film had 20 songs in total. This album is the highest sold Telugu album to date.
