Just like many other film projects Sadak 2 went into halt when the Coronavirus pandemic hit India. The sequel to the 1991 film stars Alia Bhatt and the makers of the film have only shot for one song as of now. Mahesh Bhatt who is a producer on the film has now confirmed that the film will resume shooting in the first week of July. A few weeks ago the Maharashtra government permitted the resumption of shooting for tv shows and films as long as the production meets all safety guidelines.
Mahesh Bhatt said, "We are planning to resume the shoot of Sadak 2 by the first week of July," said co-producer Mukesh Bhatt.." The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt.
Bhatt added saying, "We got the go-ahead (from Film City) yesterday. So, we are putting things in order and will soon [determine] the studio we can shoot in. We will have to build a small set for the song."
Originally Sadak 2 was supposed to move to Ooty for shooting. However the filmmakers have now decided on remaining in Mumbai for further shoot. Mahesh Bhatt has also said that he is not yet sure if the film will be a digital release or a theatrical release. He said, "How can one plan an OTT or theatrical release when the film is not even ready? Once the shoot is complete, we will begin post-production. We will cross each hurdle as and when it comes."
