Music maestro Illayaraja is in the midst of a legal tussle now and six producers have dragged him to court over the composer claiming first rights of ownership of the songs composed by him for various films. The producers have stated that the ownership of the copyright of films, both audio and video, bankrolled by them is vested in them.
Illayaraja has also been charging a royalty for any of his songs performed during live concerts. He has also sent legal notices previously to various singers to stop covering his songs. The composer is yet to comment on the case.
