Ekta Kapoor is the daughter of popular veteran actor Jeetendra. She started off her career at the age of 15. Initially, she worked as an intern under the ad filmmaker Kailash Surendranath. She started off her career as a producer in 2001. Since then, she is looking after all the production works of her home banner Balaji Telefilms. Some of her popular television works include Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Hum Paanch, Bade Ache Lagte Hai, Ye Hai Mohabbatein and Kumkum Bhagya.
 
Ekta has also produced a lot of Hindi films under the banner Balaji Motion Pictures. Some of her notable works include Krishna Cottage, Kya Kool Hai Hum, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Love Sex Aur Dhoka, One Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Shor in the City, Ragini MMS, The Dirty Picture, Lootera, Ek Villain, Udta Punjab, Half Girlfriend, and Dream Girl.
 
Ekta also produces a lot of web content. She owns a digital streaming platform called Alt Balaji. On the whole, Ekta is an allrounder who manages all the entertainment platforms.
