Filmmaker Hansal Mehta calls his 2017 film Simran starring Kangana Ranaut a mistake, compares it to supporting Arvind Kejriwal.

Despite the many rivalries that plague the Hindi film industry, very rarely does a filmmaker openly accept that one of his films was a mistake. In a recent social media post filmmaker, Hansal Mehta broke this trend when he said that he regrets making his 2017 film Simran. The film starred Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. Hansal said that while everyone makes mistakes, he has certainly learned from his past mistakes. The director also compared his decision of backing the film with supporting the Anna Hazare movement.

The director on Twitter wrote, “I supported him (Anna) in good faith. Like I later supported Arvind. I don't regret it. All of us make mistakes. I made Simran.”

Kangana Ranaut also took notice of this tweet and replied saying, “That’s true Hansal sir, even you will agree with that, I stood by you and now you saying this, feel like singing ‘achcha sila diya tune mere payaar ka'.”

Clarifying his statement, Mehta responded to her tweet writing, "Firstly, the tweet wasn’t about you. Secondly, there are things that happened after the film that left me more than hurt. It made me sorely regret making the film. All said and done you remain a fine, fine actor. And you have my respect for that. And for your kindness."
