Ayushmann Khurrana has played a variety of characters in the past. From Bareilly ki Barfi to AndhaDhun to Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the actor has appeared in films that are completely different from each other. Khurrana has come to become a versatile actor over the last couple of years. Khurrana is all set to take on a new avatar for his next film! He will essay the role of a cross-functional athlete in his upcoming film with director Abhishek Kapoor. Known for films like Rock On!, Kai Po Che, and Kedarnath, Abhishek Kapoor has also worked on a set of versatile films. Now the two are to join hands for their first film together! The film is about a progressive love story set in North India. The untitled will go to the floor this October.
 
Abhishek Kapoor confirmed the news with a popular website. He said, "Ayushmann will have to undergo a physical transformation for this role. It’s quite a challenge and he’s committed to it.”
 
Ayushmann Khurrana too spoke of the project. He said, "Abhishek has a distinct voice in cinema today, and I’m glad that we finally got the opportunity to work together on a project that’s close to my heart. This beautiful love story will take viewers on an emotional roller-coaster ride and it is a total family entertainer."
 
Ayushmann will have to go through a physical transformation to play his role as a cross-functional athlete. About the transformation, he said, “I have never attempted a look like this on screen before and I’m already looking forward to seeing the reaction of audiences. The process is going to be intense and excruciating, but I feel that the pain will be worth it.”
 
The director Abishek Kapoor hopes that the audience is back in the theatres next year, just in time for the release.
