The first week of August is already over. Though this week did not have anything big to watch or offer to all the netizens out there, it is for sure that the rest of the month is going to be a bonanza to movie buffs and reviewers. Well, here are some Indian originated series and films which will release in the rest of August. Check them out.
Abhay 2 on August 14: Zee 5
The first season of Abhay is a huge hit and now, the second season of the series starring Kunal Kemmu reprising his role of investigating officer Abhay Pratap Singh is also here. The series will stream from August 14 on ZEE5. This time, he is seen dealing with more deadly criminals, played by actors Ram Kapoor, Chunky Panday, and Raghav Juyal. Directed by Ken Ghosh, the eight-episode series also stars Nidhi Singh, Bidita Bag, Asha Negi, Indraneil Sengupta, and Asheema Vardhan.
Khuda Hafiz on August 14: Disney+Hostar
This film is an action thriller which is all about a newly-wedded couple Sameer (Vidyut Jammwal
) and Nargis (Shivaleeka Oberoi) who plan to go overseas for better work opportunities. Their life takes a turn after Nargis goes missing in a foreign land and Sameer does all possible things to find her. Khuda Haafiz will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar on August 14.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl on August 12: Netflix
Starring Janhvi Kapoor
, Angad Bedi, and Pankaj Tripathi are lead roles, the film is a success story of a young lady who wanted to make it big in life and has the full support of her father. In a male-dominated profession, how this young woman is a must-watch. The film is a biopic of the Indian Air Force’s first female combat pilot and is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Sharan Sharma.
Class of 83 on August 21: Netflix
Based on Sayyed Yunus Hussain Zaidi’s book The Class Of 83, a film with the same title is made and it stars Bobby Deol in the lead role of an IPS officer. The official synopsis reads, “The story revolves around a hero policeman shunted to a punishment posting as the Dean of the police academy decides to punish the corrupt bureaucracy and its criminal allies in return by training five lethal assassin policemen. But, like all good plans, it only works for a while until the fire that he has ignited threatens to burn his own house down.” Helmed by Atul Sabharwal, the film also stars Bhupendra Jadawat, Hitesh Bhojraj, and Annup Sonii.
Masaba Masaba on Netflix
The official description of the series reads, “This scripted series based on real-life moments from Masaba Gupta’s life follows her unique background, the diverse worlds she straddles across fashion and family, and her foray back into the dating world. An inspirational, joyous celebration of her life, this fun series will be packed with tongue-in-cheek humour, enacted by the mother-daughter duo, Masaba, and Neena Gupta themselves. The genre-bending series is written and directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Ashvini Yardi’s Viniyard Films.”
Sadak 2 on August 28: Dsiney+Hotstar
This film is making headlines for various reasons and has made some controversies as well on social media platforms. Starring Sanjay Dutt
, Alia Bhatt
, Aditya Roy Kapur, Pooja Bhatt, Jisshu Sengupta, Makarand Deshpande, Gulshan Grover, Priyanka Bose, Mohan Kapur, and Akshay Anand, Sadak 2 will stream on August 28. Helmed by Mahesh Bhatt, the film is is a sequel to the 1991 hit Sadak.
Aashram on August 28-MX Player
This film gives a double bonanza to all the Bobby Deol fans. This series of Prakash Jha is titled Aashram and stars Bobby Deol, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Adhyayan Suman, Darshan Kumaar, and Aaditi Pohankar. The makers are yet to reveal more details about the project.
