In a recent interview with Hindustan Times singer Shibani Kashyap opened up about her process of songwriting and singing. Shibani who is known for singing Hindi tracks such as ‘Sajna aa bhi jaa’ and ‘Zinda Hoon Main’ said that she believes releasing a song is now a much bigger task than it has ever been.
Shibani recalled her debut album and said, “My debut album ‘Ho Gai Hai Mohabbat’ (1998) was a chartbuster but today even with exceeding social media exposure it’s tough to reach those heights. Pop music was a big pursuit then but thankfully today again we see the light at the end of the tunnel and I feel this genre will make come back soon.``
“At that time songs had a better reach and now with so much social media there is too much clutter on the digital format — huge money is riding and we don’t know what goes viral organically. There is more strategy involved in releasing a song than making one. A grand plan needs to be made just like one does in releasing a film,” she added.
Shibani also revealed that the pandemic has definitely affected her concerts as she is now getting a lot of clout from the US and the UK. Shibani revealed that unlike Indian audiences, a lot of people in the US prefer virtual concerts.
