Three years ago, director Shankar and Lyca Productions announced that they will be churning out a sequel to the blockbuster hit film Endhiran. Later, the film was titled as 2.0 and was creating enough buzz during the filming.
2.0, as we all know, stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. So far, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 1 and 2 were regarded as India’s most expensive film. Little did the world know that 2.0 will dethrone Baahubali series and become India’s costliest film.
As years passed, 2.0 was facing troubles due to technical difficulties. The post-production work was underway in over 15 studios in Hollywood. Shankar had one vision. A vision of making Tamil film 2.0 on par with Hollywood standards.
It was only this year, 2.0 was finally making some noise. From first-look posters to teasers and trailer, the audience was in for surprise after surprise. Going by the teaser and trailer, we are looking at a sci-fi film that will wow us all in the first watch.
Initially, when the posters were released, it had a caption, “The world is not only for humans.” In addition, Akshay Kumar’s look resembled a Crow. So, we could make out that through 2.0, Shankar will convey the message that the world is not only for humans but also for animals and birds.
The teaser of much anticipated 2.0 graced the social media on September 13. As expected, the teaser was a rage among ardent fans of Rajinikanth.
All these years, director Shankar was always the person who is stringent in revealing even small details about his films. However, it was not the case with 2.0. We hope it was meant to be.
The one minute-thirty-second teaser revealed the plot of 2.0, literally.
In the teaser and trailer, We see mobile phones being snatched away by a mysterious man who is half-crow half-human. In just a few seconds, Shankar brings back Chitti and Chitti reloaded (now called 2.0) to fight the mysterious man.
Sources close to the unit revealed that Akshay Kumar’s character has a flashback portion where he is fond of birds. We all know that the species of Indian house sparrow disappeared because of harmful radiations from mobile phone towers. Today, the species are declared extinct.
It looks like Akshay Kumar’s character will be devastated from the loss and decides to teach the world a fitting lesson. 2.0 will see Chitti and 2.0 take on Akshay Kumar’s Crow Man in an epic battle in the climax.
In a recent interview, Rajinikanth and Shankar revealed that the film is all about mobile phone menace and the after effects of it. Today, we are all glued to our mobile phones almost all the time. What happens when you are deprived of your phone? Will one be able to handle the loss?
A few days ago, 2.0 was certified with a UA certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is hardly a week away from the grand release worldwide on November 29.
2.0 was submitted for certification with the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) so that 2.0 can have a smooth release in Europe. The makers had submitted the film’s synopsis to the BBFC. Going by the synopsis, it looks like our prediction is so close.
The synopsis reads, “The danger posed by a deadly winged monster forces Dr Vaseegaran to reassemble his robot Chitti, which is the only way to fight this monster and save the world.”
At the trailer launch held in Chennai, director Shankar revealed that the climax of 2.0 will mesmerise everyone. He also hinted that there will be a giant Chitti and Akshay Kumar Crow Man pitted against each other.
He further added that there are more surprises in the film. Going by the lyrics of Rajali, we suspect that there will be Lilliput Rajinikanth. Are you excited?
