Janvhi Kapoor to play the lead role in Hindi remake of Malayalam film Helen; father Boney Kapoor to produce it

After making her acting debut with Dhadak, an official Hindi remake of Marathi film Sairat, Janhvi Kapoor is all set to play the lead role in the remake of Malayalam blockbuster film Helen. The Malayalam version has Anna Ben and Lal in lead roles and is directed by Mathukutty Xavier.

Released in 2019, Helen received a lot of praise from critics and audiences as well. Now, Boney Kapoor has bought the Hindi remake rights of this film. Janhvi will step into the shoes of Anna from the original.

The shoot of the film will go on floors sometime early next year and will jointly be produced by Boney Kapoor with Zee Studios. The pre-production work is currently on and the team plans to take the floors in the first quarter of 2021.

Late actress Sridevi always wanted her husband Boney Kapoor to produce a Tamil film and that too with Ajith. At least after she passed away, Boney produced Nerkonda Paarvai, the Tamil remake of Hindi blockbuster Pink. Now he is spreading his wings in the south and has got the remake rights, Helen, for her daughter.

Boney had earlier announced Bombay Girl with Janvhi. But for some reason, they decided to take Helen remake on floors first. After completion of this film, Bombay Girl will go on floors. The trailer of Janhvi’s upcoming film Gunjan Saxena was released on Saturday and the film will release on Netflix on July 12 sans theatrical release.
