It is an art at its best. Directed by K. Vishwanath, this film celebrates 37 years of its release today. On this occasion, let us look back at it.

 
Sagara Sangamam's story revolves around a Bharata Natyam dancer named Balakrishna. When he was about to give a performance at a national level classical dance festival, a tragedy strikes his life. How his life gets transformed after that incident, forms the main crux of the film. Sagara Sangamam featured Jaya Prada as the female lead. Sarath Babu and SP Sailaja have played the other important roles in it.
 
One of the major highlights of this film is its music. Composed by Ilaiyaraja, all songs of this film were chartbusters. People still regard highly about these songs. Tracks like Mounamelanoyi, Naada Vinodamu, Thakita Thadimi, Vedam Anuvanuvuna Nadam and Vevela Gopammala still remain as classics of Telugu cinema music. Sagara Sangam was also dubbed into Tamil and Malayalam languages. It was a hit there as well.
 
It won two National Awards, for Best Music Direction (Ilaiyaraja) and Best Singer Male (SP Bala Subrahmanyam). It won six Nandi Awards, including Best Film (Bronze), Best Actor (Kamal Haasan) and Best Playback Singer Female (S. Janaki). The film also won three Filmfare Awards. It ran for more than 100 days across many centers in South India.
