Popular production house E4 Entertainment is all set to enter the OTT space. The banner acquired the rights of the book Chasing the Brigand. This book got written by IPS Vijay Kumar. It is about hunting and the assassination of dreadful terrorist Veerappan. E4 Entertainments is planning to make a feature film or a web series based on this book. The company stated that any film that plagiarizes the content from the book will get subjected to copyright infringement.
E4 Entertainment released a press statement regarding this project earlier today. The statement read, "E4Entertainment has acquired the copyright of the book Chasing the Brigand. It got written by IPS Vijaykumar. The rights got acquired for making a feature film or Web Series. Any web series or feature film replicating the book its episodes in part or as whole or any characters in the book or their mannerisms as depicted in the book is liable for damages and legal action for copyright infringement."
"E4Entertainment was to start the web series immediately on the lifting of the lockdown and restrictions on the outdoor shooting. The detailing in the book about STF operations, characters including STF chief Mr Vijayakumar IPS and many in the police force, their characteristics and stories, STF operations and other detailing as told in the book comes under copyright and anyone violating the copyright will be liable for legal action and damages," it added. More details about this project will get revealed soon. Recently, AMR Ramesh also announced a web series on Veerappan. We still don't know if it is an adaptation of this book or not. E4 Entertainment may have given this statement to clear off the air.
Veerappan got killed in 2004. He got assassinated in the Operation Cocoon. It got headed by Vijay Kumar and Senthamarai Kannan Yadava.
