It is already known that Raghava Lawrence is acting in the sequel of the 2005 horror-thriller Chandramukhi. P. Vasu, who directed the original, is also helming this film. From the past few days, the names of Simran, Jyothika and Kiara Advani are in the news of this film. But Lawrence confirmed that the team hasn't approached any heroine till now. Currently, the script work is going on. The makers will announce the female lead once the COVID situation settles down.
Lawrence took on social media to put a full-stop to all these rumours. He stated, "Hi to my media friends, Many rumours about Chandramukhi 2 Female lead is being spread that Jyothika madam, Simran madam or Kiara Advani might be seen in the lead role but it's all just fake news. The script work is going on, once the COVID situation settles and The production confirms the female lead, We will officially announce it."
Lawrence announced Chandramukhi in April this year. We heard that P. Vasu initially approached Rajinikanth to play the lead. However, things didn't materialize. Thus, He went ahead with Lawrence. Chandramukhi's first part featured Rajinikanth, Prabhu, Jyothika and Nayanthara in the lead roles. It was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. Chandramukhi was a big hit in Telugu and Tamil. It was later remade into Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan played the leads in it.
