The coronavirus pandemic has made all the theatres across the world to get shut down. All the theatres remained closed for the last two and a half months. Slowly, as the situation is hitting back normalcy, some of the countries are easing down the lockdown restrictions. In the process, the theatres are also reopening. Hong Kong also decided to reopen its theatres. As there are no new releases as of now, the theatres are screening films like Marvel's Iron Man 3 and The Avengers at the theatres.
The Iron Man and Avengers series are among the biggest grosser of the Marvel Studios. Both the franchisees enjoy a massive fan base among the audiences. Thus, the makers have decided to re-release these two movies in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Warner Bros Entertainment is also re-releasing some of its blockbusters like Christopher Nolan's Dark Night Trilogy and Wachowski Sisters' Matrix Series. Matrix will get released in a restored 4K version.
Meanwhile, many other Asian countries are also reopening theatres. In China, Marvel is releasing all four parts of its Avengers series. James Cameron's Avatar is also gearing up for the re-release in China. Christopher Nolan's Interstellar and Inception have also joined the list.
While other countries are opting to screen the latest blockbusters, Japan is screening some of the old classic epics. The largest multiplex chain in the country, Toho Cinemas is screening old films from the past few days. The list includes Ben-Hur, The Wizard of Oz, East of Eden, Rio Bravo, Balde Runner, E.T, and The Shawshank Redemption.
