Ravi Teja alias Bhoopatiraju Ravishankar Raju was born in Jaggampeta, East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. Before starting his career in Tollywood, Ravi Teja spent most of his childhood in Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai and Bhopal. Later on, he moved to Vijayawada along with his family and joined Siddhartha Degree College to pursue his Bachelors in Arts. Half way through his graduation, he left to Chennai on October 2, 1988, to join films.
His interest in films brought him into the film industry. Ravi Teja joined Krishna Vamsi as an assistant director and worked for Ninne Pelladutha. His first big break as an actor came with Krishna Vamsi’s Sindhooram. Ravi Teja became popular for starring in the iconic song ‘Hai Re Hai’ in that movie.
His first film as a lead actor was Neekosam, 1999 And Nee Kosam directed by a debut director Srinu Vaitla that gave Ravi Teja the much needed impetus. He bagged an award for his performance in Nee Kosam.
Ravi Teja attained stardom with Puri Jagan’s ‘Idiot’. After that, there was no turning back. Ravi Teja grew from strength to strength over the years. A string of successful movies earned him a reputation as a safe actor.
