After passing out from NSD in 1999, Nawaz moved to Mumbai to kickstart his film career. In the very same year, he made his Bollywood debut by playing a small role in Aamir Khan's film Sarfarosh. He then played small characters in hit films like Shool, Jungle, and Munna Bhai MBBS. Over the next few years, Nawazuddin kept on acting in all films that came his way. He didn't see whether it was a big character or a small character.
2012 turned out to be the major breakthrough year for Nawaz. He acted in a prominent role in Vidya Balan's Kahaani. Later, he starred in the lead role in Anurag Kashyap's epic gangster drama Gangs of Wasseypur. This film brought him wide acclaim. Then there is no looking back for Nawaz.
