Priyanka Chopra on why she chose to act in The White Tiger: "I remember reading the book and it leaving a massive mark on my mind because it's so poetic and specific, at the same time. There are so many little things from the book that we all remember. When my agents told me that this book is being made into a movie and would I be interested, and I jumped on it and I pursued the film actually. I was like I have to be a part of this movie. I know that the film is not about my character, it is about Balram's character. It's his perspective.
I have always known this. I love the idea of taking the stories based out of India, which I can completely relate with, to the global audience. Like the book did. It sold more outside India than it did inside India. I feel that it was that story and I want to be attached to stuff like that. So I actively pursued it and I went after it. I met Ramin of course and I said that I would love to be able to help push the film for it to get the biggest it can be and get the maximum attention that we can provide it. And that was the reason I got behind it."
