From the past few days, it is being speculated in media that there is a connection between the 2017 hit film Mayanadhi and the Kerala Gold smuggling scandal. However, film's producer Santosh T Kuruvilla has cleared all the rumors. He stated that he produced the film with his own money and not any outsources. He clarified that the news is circulating in media is absolutely fake.
Santosh took on social media to inform the same. He wrote, "There has been a campaign in the social media that my production Mayanadhi was actually funded by some other controversial person. I don’t understand on what basis such fake news is being circulated. Mayanadhi has been produced with the money from my own account after paying all the required taxes."
Mayanadhi was a romantic thriller directed by Ashiq Abu. It featured Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. Upon the theatrical release, the film received a huge critical and popular acclaim. It was a big hit at the box office. It is often considered a modern masterpiece in the Malayalam cinema. The film is getting remade into Hindi as well.
Santosh T Kuruvilla's next project is Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. Directed by Priyadarshan, this film features Mohanlal as the lead hero. It was supposed to hit the screens on March 25. The lockdown has postponed the release indefinitely. The new release date will get announced once the theaters reopen across the country.
