A week away from release, 2.0, the most awaited and anticipated film of the year 2018 in raking in big moolah even before its release. Having made on a budget of Rs 543 crore, the makers of the movie have pre-sold digital and satellite rights of all three versions of the film at a whopping amount of Rs 370 crores. With this, the film has already recovered more than half of its production cost even before its release.
While the distribution rights of Telangana/Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Northern belt have already been sold to individual distributors, LYCA has retained the distribution rights of Tamil Nadu and Overseas. They have adopted the self-distribution model at these two major markets given the fact that the business potential is sky high.
Touted as the costliest film in the Indian cinema’s history is all set to hit the screens on November 29. The movie will also be the first Indian film to be entirely shot in 3D. The movie will release in around 10,000 screens worldwide, along with 6,600-6,800 screens in India. This will break the record of Baahubali 2, which released in as many as 6,500 domestic screens and 9,000 across the world.
