Cyclone Titli hits Odisha-Andhra coasts


Titli made a landfall at Gopalpur in Odisha around 6.15 a.m. on Thursday morning. The wind speed touching close to 149Kmph. Road connectivity disruptes between Berhampur and Gopalpur due to Uprooting of electricity poles and trees. According to IMD cyclone Titli is the strongest cylone that has formed over the Bay of Bengal this year. With cyclone's landfall, atleast fives districts Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur are receiving heavy rain fall with high speed winds.

"Titli" in Hindi means butterfly and has been categorised as a very severe cyclonic storm. The Government Odisha declared holiday for all schools and colleges today. Chief Minister of Odisha asked the low-lying areas people to vacate. The said that they are prepared to face the floods due to heavy rain. The NDRF and Orrisa Disaster Rapid Action Force have already been sent to the vulnerable areas.
