India-South Africa T20I abandoned without a ball being bowled

The first T20I between India and South Africa in Dharamshala has been abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. The match was called off hours before the cut-off time of 9:46 PM due to consistent rainfall. The heavy downpour that left a near-capacity crowd disappointed.

While there was a prediction of a sharp drizzle in the afternoon, the weather forecast was all clear for the evening but heavens opened up multiple times, putting paid to hopes of even having a five-over per side encounter. A spell of thundershowers happened in the afternoon and by 5:30 pm it seemed that the rain had subsided with the spectators thronging into the stadium.

The second match of the three-match series will take place in Mohali on Wednesday.
