Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly address Mann ki Baat, remembered the valour of Indian Armed forces during the Kargil war. He says that when the enemy soared atop, the Indian Armed Forces fought with bravery and defeated them. PM Modi spoke of the war and the brave soldiers as India observed the 21st anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Indian soldiers faced the Pakistani troops during May and July in 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir.
In addition to remembering the brave soldiers, PM Modi also spoke of the COVID-19 crisis. He said that the threat of the coronavirus is not over and that we should remain vigilant in our fight against the virus. He stressed on the use of preventive measures. Wearing masks and maintaining social distancing should continue, said PM Modi. PM Modi also applauded states such as Bihar, Jharkhand and the northeast for their efforts in promoting the use of local products.
PM Modi also stated that Independence Day will be celebrated amid the coronavirus pandemic. He further asked the youth of the nation to resolve to become self-reliant and to make India a coronavirus free nation.
Modi also addressed the issues of calamities such as floods and heavy rainfall in parts of the country. He expressed his solidarity. He stressed on the fact of how the Centre, the state governments, local administrations, NDRF and social organisations are doing all they can to help those affected.
