Mumbai recorded the season's lowest temperature on Thursday morning at 12.4 degree Celsius.
This was recorded as lowest December temperature in last three years.
The city has been experiencing a minimum temperature from November, with the mercury dipping to 15 degrees.
On Thursday morning, went down further to 12.4 degrees Celsius – five degrees below normal.
India Meteorological Department has attributed this dip to dry northerly/northwesterly winds from the Himalayas over plains of northwest and central India.
Meanwhile, there has been a drop in maximum temperatures as well. For the most part of December, maximum temperatures stayed around 32-33 degree Celsius, causing days to be warmer. But in the last week of December, the maximum temperature dipped.
