Nam Onnu painting camp begins

The ‘Nam Onnu’ painting camp, organised by Kerala Lalithakala Akademi in association with the district administration and various cultural organisations, began at the Thekkinkadu maidan in Thrissur on Friday.

Around 100 painters, including senior artists such as B.D. Dathan, Anila Jacob, T. Kaladharan, TAS Menon, K.A. Francis, K.U. Krishnakumar, and Thomas Antony will participate in the three-day camp as part of ‘Veendeduppu’ — post-flood rebuilding efforts. Spot-painting has also been organised.

District Collector T.V. Anupama inaugurated the camp. Kerala Lalithakala Akademi chairman Nemam Pushparaj and secretary Ponnyam Chandran were present. Akademi manger A.S. Sugathakumari inaugurated the sale of artefacts by presenting a painted pot to the Collector. An exhibition-cum-sale of paintings will be held at the mobile art gallery organised by the Akademi. Chelannur Gothra Kalagramam presented ‘nadan pattu’ too.
