People across the world welcomed the New Year 2019 with open arms. Reportedly, there is a new record in place when it came to liquor sales in the Telugu speaking states. It is said that nearly Rs 600 crore went into the treasury of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
On a given normal day, the liquor sales amount to Rs 60 crore. However, on December 31, the sales shot up to a huge amount of Rs 130 crore. Since December is a month of festivals, the liquor sales for the entire month came up to Rs 1962 crore.
The figures for liquor sales in Hyderabad is Rs 19.50 crore, while it is Rs 15.30 crore in Ranga Reddy district. Also, the sales in Medchal regional and Warangal district are Rs 11.90 crore and Rs 18 crore respectively.
From December 29 to December 31, the liquor sales in Andhra Pradesh are recorded as Rs 288 crore.
Further, the police have recorded a total of 2090 cases under Drunken Driving, which is a record in itself. About 175 teams were deployed and nearly 1000s of citizens were detained. However, no tragic accidents were recorded.
