Hours before TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao holds a rally in Kodangal constituency of Telangana, the police detained firebrand Congress politician Revanth Reddy. Dramatic visuals emerged from Revanth Reddy's house where the police swooped into Revanth's house at midnight, broke open the door and detained him. All of this, even as Revanth's aides can be seen arguing with officials, asking them to display their ID cards and a copy of the arrest warrant.
He is reportedly booked under the IPC sections 341, 188, 506 and 511.
Revanth had earlier threatened not to allow KCR into Kodangal. The detention has triggered tension in the region as Revanth enjoys massive support. The police has also beefed up security in the area to avoid any untoward incident. Sec 144 has been imposed in Kodangal.
Earlier this week, TRS filed a plaint with Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar and accused Revanth Reddy of attempts to sabotage the TRS chief's party meeting. Following this, the Election Commission sent out a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) to take all necessary steps and ensure no such disruption takes place.
