Tamil Nadu govt urges Centre to release funds due to local bodies

A Tamil Nadu government delegation referred to as on Union minister of finance Arun Jaitley and Union Minister for Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar in the capital of India on Thursday and raised many problems, as well as the first, unleashing of dues for urban and rural local bodies.
 
The delegation additionally urged the Centre to relax the Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) norms to use workforce for restoration work post-cyclone Gaja.
 
In a memorandum handed over to Mr. Jaitley, Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani urged the Minister to release a total of ₹560.15 crore, that is due to urban and rural local bodies as performance grant for 2017-18.
 
The memorandum additionally urged him to release ₹3,612.05 crore due to urban and rural native bodies within the State because of the 1st installment of 14th Central Finance Commission basic grant for 2018-19.
 
Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambi Durai and AIADMK MP within the Rajya Sabha R. Vaithilingam were a part of the delegation that handed over the memorandum.
