On Saturday, October 1, Bigg Boss 16 made its debut. Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who played the title role in Choti Sarrdaarni, was introduced as the first participant by Bollywood superstar and host Salman Khan. Nimrit was given the captaincy by Bigg Boss, and she was tasked with assigning chores to each person. Abdu Rozik then made his entrance, singing to win everyone over, and was led inside the house. Abdu was given the responsibility of chopping by Nimrit after she inquired about his preferences. Salman was stunned by the hot chemistry between Ankit Gupta and Priyanka Chaudhary when they later appeared as the stars of Udaariyaan. Salman gave compliments to the following competitor, Altaf Shaikh, also known as MC Stan.
As soon as she took the stage, Archana Gautam reprised one of her favourite scenes with Gautam Singh Vig. The following participant, Shalin Bhanot, talks about his desire to eventually overtake Bigg Boss as host. Following that, Soundarya Sharma and Shiv Thakare enter the home. Being the youngest contender, Sumbul Touqeer, Salman expresses his admiration for her. While this is going on, Bigg Boss summons Nimrit to the confessional, where he tells her that he feels like he made a mistake by choosing her as the captain of the week because she doesn't assign duties but rather seeks their opinion and simplifies things for them. Nimrit promises she won't let him down. Sumbul's name is made fun of by Archana.
Next, Miss India Runner-Up Manya Singh enters, and Nimrit assigns her a bed. Manya complains about how uncomfortable she is, but Nimrit won't move the bed. Salman is given some dance lessons by Gori Nagori as she enters the scene. Tina Datta of Uttaran fame and Sreejita De arrive and talk about their friendship, but Salman plays footage of Sreejita saying she is no longer friends with Tina. Archana becomes angry and says that she won't compromise with her bed because she wants to view the mirror every morning when Nimrit asks if she may replace it. Sajid Khan is the final contender to enter, and Shehnaaz Gill sends him luck on Bigg Boss 16
