Thala Ajith teamed up with director H Vinoth for his latest film, Thunivu. He is one of the biggest superstars in Tamil cinema, and every release of his is met with a huge response from his fans. He is even known as the king of opening day in Tamil Nadu, owing to the kind of revenue his movies get on the first day. Even though Ajith never promotes a single movie of his, and is rarely seen outside of the sets, he enjoys a massive fanbase in Tamil Nadu, and is widely love.
There were huge expectations for Thunivu even before the film's release. The trailer was received very well by the audience, and it was praised for its visuals. The film was released on 11th January worldwide, for Sankranthi this year. The film is an out-and-out action entertainer and features Manju Warrier as the leading lady.
Ghibran composed the music and background score for the film. This turned out to be one of the major highlights of the film, along with the cinematography of the film. Thunivu was released in Telugu as Thegimpu. While the film managed to get decent collections in the Telugu states on the first day, it didn't receive much attention from the 12th. This is because of the release of major Telugu films from the 12th. Thunivu is still strong in Tamil Nadu.
