'Captain' First Day Box-Office Collection Indicates A Good Start

Yesterday, August 8, the sci-fi movie "Captain," from Kollywood, was launched in theatres in Tamil and Telugu. Arya, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Simran, Kavya Shetty, and Harish Uthaman are among the actors who appear in it, which is directed and written by Shakti Soundar Rajan.

The censor board gave it a U/A certificate, claiming that it is the first creature movie ever made in Tamil. It has generated controversy among viewers. It lasts 117 minutes (1 hour 57 minutes), the first half of which is 58 minutes lengthy.

According to early reviews, the movie is being praised for its original idea, Arya's performance, the visual effects, and the costume design, while receiving criticism for its plot and writing. It centers on Vetriselvan (played by Arya), a member of a special task force, who is tasked with helping his squad stop a menace from spreading havoc in Sector-42 Forest.

On September 5, Captain's advance reservations opened up. According to reports, the film will have a respectable box office debut. The positive is that the opening weekend will be extended by 4 days, but the drawback is that starting tomorrow, it will collide with Kanam and the much anticipated Brahmastra.

However, given that Captain is a full-fledged Tamil picture while the other two are not, it would be given preference to run at the box office provided it receives positive word-of-mouth from the audience. According to estimates, it will cost between Rs 3 and 5 crores to launch in the domestic market (Tamil Nadu).

About 100 theatres in the United States and 57 theatres in Kerala state have screened it. It has taken over about 80 theatres in Chenglapet and 70 theatres in Coimbatore.
