After a brief gap of more than 1 year, Akkineni Akhil made a grand re-entry with Mr. Majnu just a day before Republic Day on January 25th. The movie was touted as a Romantic entertainer with all the required ingredients for an ideal blockbuster.
However, the idea of creating a Rom-com movie didn't literally work out though there were some genuine efforts from the team of Mr Majnu. The movie starts off well but loses its grip during the interval block.
Post interval, everything looks silly with a poor screenplay. The total plot and execution of the movie were deemed at a certain section of the audience which didn’t work.
Mr Majnu pre-release business is done for Rs 22 Crores, which is very less compared to Akhil’s last two outings. As the pre-release business is in control and with decent talk trade expected at least 80% recovery in the worst case. None of this happened for Akhil’s Mr. Majnu and thus the movie ended up as a disaster at the box office.
Mr Majnu collected a share of Rs 11.56 Crores at the worldwide box-office in its full run.
