Competing with Kartik Aryan's Pati Patni Aur Woh has come at a heavy price for Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat. The film that tells the story of the third battle of Panipat has failed to leave the same kind of impression that a historical epic is usually regarded with.
On Saturday Panipat did a total gross total of Rs. 5.75-6 crores. This collection was higher than the film's first day collections but the total amount still remains below Rs. 10 crores. In comparison, Pati, Patni Aur Woh did a total of Rs. 11 crores on Saturday alone.
Panipat stars Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. While critics praised the acting of all the actors in the film, its lengthy run and dragging plot seem to have put off its fans. The film has underperformed in Maharashtra too, where it has expectations to have a big profit due to the population of the Marathas.
The film still has more time to recover from its budget, especially because of the sheer number of screens that it opened all over the country.
