Cobra, the Vikram-Ajay Gnanamuthu movie had a great opening at the box office with a collection over 12 crores on the first day itself but following the mixed response after the first two days.
On its second day of release, the Vikram-starring movie's box office earnings drastically decreased. The movie had a significant dip in popularity following the tepid critical and fan reception it received after its August 31 release. According to reports, the movie barely generated Rs 5.50 crore in Tamil Nadu on day two of release, about 80% less than it did on opening day.
The movie is reportedly currently seeing a decline due to the weekdays, but reports predict that its box office performance would improve during the weekend and surpass Rs 15 crore on Saturday and Sunday.
After getting several complaints that the film lingered after its premiere on August 31, the filmmakers have since cut and edited the movie to a 20-minute shorter version.
The movie is currently in fourth place among the highest-grossing Tamil movies of 2022 after collecting a total of Rs 17 crore at the box office in just two days. The movie, which was directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, features Srinidhi Shetty and Vikram in the key roles. Meenakshi Govindarajan, Mrinalini Ravi, KS Ravikumar, and Roshan Mathew make up the supporting cast. AR Rahman is responsible for the film's music composition.
