28th KIFF To Honour Amitabh Bhachchan With A Special Exhibition
To mark Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday, KIFF organizers have planned an exhibition on him, which will be inaugurated by Jaya Bachchan on December 16.
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will attend the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival's (KIFF) opening ceremony on December 15. Fans now have more thrilling news. In honour of Amitabh Bachchan's 80th birthday, KIFF organisers have organised an exhibition about him, which Jaya Bachchan will open on December 16. A short film on the seasoned Bollywood actor will also be shown at the event. The Amitabh Bachchan display will feature the actor's movie posters and a massive portrait of him.
For the uninitiated, Amitabh missed the opening ceremony of the 25th KIFF in 2019 due to his health, but he did submit a video message that was played during the closing ceremony. The 27th KIFF, which was conducted earlier in April this year due to the pandemic, did not see any outstation guests. The 26th edition was virtually started in 2021.
The West Bengal government had previously announced that this year's festival would feature five competition categories, including the International Competition Innovation in Moving Images, Competition on Indian Languages, Asian Select (NETPAC Award), National Competition on Documentary, and National Competition on Short Fiction. Additionally, there will be two non-competitive categories: Bengali Panorama and International Cinema.
Almost eight months have passed since the 27th KIFF, which took place between April 25 and May 1 of this year after a two-year gap caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Additionally, this edition will commemorate the birth centenaries of famous filmmakers Pier Paolo Pasolini, Alain Resnais, Asit Sen, and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Additionally, plans are well underway to get the rights to screen the greatest works of foreign directors.
