On the occasion of the actor Shreyas Manju's birthday, the makers of his upcoming film Vishnu Priya released an official poster.
Vishnu Priya marks the debut of the Malayalam actor Priya Varrier. The team has nearly finished the shooting, They have about two days worth of shooting left. The film is set in the early 1990s.
The film was to hit the theatres in June 2020 but with the coronavirus outbreak, the schedule might change. “It depends on how the industry takes forward the releases after the lockdown period is over,” says Shreyas.
Vishnu Priya will be the actor's second film. Shreyas has reportedly rejected many films offers. The reason, he says, is that they were remakes. “I have decided not to touch remakes as of now. Instead, I have requested them to come up with an original script, and I will be happy to get associated with them,” says Shreyas.
He also stated that he has observed that the audience's opinion of remakes has changed. " Now that we live in a digital world, viewers around the globe get to watch all kinds of films, of different genres and languages. It becomes very difficult to tell them to watch the same content, which they have already experienced. One in a million remakes might click. So it is better that we come up with a story that goes with the local flavour," said Shreyas.
The actor also said that the industry should make original films to attract people to the theatres. Thus the actor is working on trying to present new stories. He spoke of a new venture that he'd like to work on. "I have a story in hand, which has been written by a Chennai-based writer. It is a romcom. I may make this film under our home banner, for which I am now looking for the right director," said Shreyas. Additionally, he stated that he will also be working on another film with his father K Manju.
