After Life Season 3: Ricky Gervais confirms his return

24th April 2020, Ricky Gervais’s After Life Season 2 was released, within less than two weeks’ time, the British Comedian, who created “The Office”, is now making Netflix his permanent home. His show “After Life” has now officially renewed for its third season. The Netflix Original series from Derek Productions is written, created, and directed by Ricky Gervais. Charlie Hanson and Ricky took to social media to confirm the release of After Life Season 3. Charlie Hanson wrote “Looking forward to getting out again!”

The story of After Life centers on the life of Tony (Gervais). He is a middle-aged journalist whose “perfect life” has been reduced to dust since he lost his wife to cancer. After contemplating taking his own life, he decides instead to live long enough to punish the world. By saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. He believes it to be his ‘Superpower’. He eventually finds out that life is more complicated when everyone around him tries to save ‘the nice guy’ they used to know.

Gervais explained his thought process behind the character and the series in his interview with Variety for After Life Season 1. He said “At the end of the day, it’s all those little mundane interactions that actually save your life – they’re the variety of life, they stop you from feeling too sorry for yourself. He’s got to take the dog for a walk, he’s got to go to work to make money to get drunk, and after all that, time heals.”

The stand-up comedian on Monday’s installment of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, shared that he had to negotiate his unforgettable joke targeted at Judi Dench’s role in Cats while hosting the Golden Globes with 15 lawyers. He shared that, he was going to Judi Dench’s appearance in Cats “was the role she was born to play- because she loves nothing better than getting down on the carpet, lifting up her leg and licking her own minge.” The group of lawyers took an objection with the word ‘minge’ and looked for the best possible word which can be substituted but in vain. Gervais told them “All I’m trying to do is get them not to bleep it, because it sort of ruins it. So I persuaded them that ‘minge’ was fine, okay?” But, he further added, “We settled on ‘minge’ and they said they wouldn’t bleep still did.” For now, we are elated with the news of After Life’s renewal for season 3. When Gervais said “Nothing’s as good if you don’t share it”, he meant it and proved it right.
