Director Mani Ratnam is realizing his dream as his ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan has gone on floors in Thailand on December 11. The first schedule, which will go on for about 40 days, will feature Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The makers finally announced the film's cast and crew today with a press release.
Going by the press release, Mani Ratnam has roped in Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi who has acted with the likes of Nivin Pauly, Tovino Thomas, Fahad Faasil and Asif Asli. In Ponniyin Selvan, the actress plays a crucial role and it is reported that the makers have had her trained in boat sailing.
Reportedly, Aishwarya Lekshmi has a boat sailing scene in the film and hence she took training in Kerala. She will also be part of the first schedule and will shoot important portions of her role.
Ponniyin Selvan is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. The period drama will also be made in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. The film features Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Vikram Prabhu, Lal, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, and others.
