It is a known fact that director Maniratnam is working on his dream project Ponniyin Selvan. It bases the film on Kalki Krishnamoorthy’s epic novel, which sets in the Chola Kingdom’s backdrop.
While it confirmed that Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Parthiban, Jayaram and Aishwarya Rai are part of the project. Now names like Anushka, Karthi, Keerthy Suresh, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Amala Paul are under speculation to be part of this period film.
As per the latest update, it says Aishwarya Rai will play dual roles in ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. As the famous Nandhini and her mute mother, the queen Mandakini Devi.
The film is now in the pre-production stage. We expect it to go on floors in November this year in locations in Tamil Nadu and Thailand. The film’s regular shooting starts in November. It is likely to be produced by Reliance Entertainment or Lyca Productions.
The screenplay is written by actor-writer Elango Kumaravel.
