South Indian films getting remade in Bollywood is not a new trend. Many films in the past have got remade into Hindi. Especially, if it is a successful horror film, there are high chances of it to get remade in Bollywood. The latest addition to this list is Anushka Shetty's Bhaagmathie.
This G. Ashok directorial is a big hit in Telugu and Tamil. Now, it is getting remade in Hindi as Durgavati, with Bhumi Pednekar reprising the role of Anushka. Ashok is helming this film as well. This marks his debut in Bollywood. The Pilla Zamindar director said that he was nervous initially to do the film in Hindi but it was Akshay Kumar (presenter of the film) and Bhumi, who made him feel comfortable.
Ashok said that apart from the story taking place in a north Indian setup, there are quite a few changed made in this remake version. But the basic flavor remains intact. Ashok said that Bhumi is a great actor and he couldn't have asked for the more. He stated that Akshay made him comfortable and termed the actor as a great pillar of support. Akshay Kumar and Bhushan Kumar are jointly presenting Durgavati while Vikram Malhotra is bankrolling it.
