Alia Bhatt hailed Pathaan as "possibly the biggest blockbuster in Indian cinema" in response to the movie's box office success. Alia answered when questioned about Pathaan shattering Brahmastra's box office record during the press conference for the Zee Cine Awards 2023 on Tuesday night.
While many have claimed that Pathaan, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Brahmastra's success is a response to the negativity, Alia claimed that because they are artists, they don't have as much "aggression." Alia spoke about how to deal with criticism and haters. She said, "I don't think we have so much aggression in us like that. We are very grateful to be working and living our dream on a day-to-day basis. And we believe that we belong to the audience and the audience can say whatever they want about us. As long as we are entertaining them we will do our very best."
She spoke on Pathaan, "We feel very very happy as an industry that a film like Pathaan is not just a blockbuster but possibly the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema. I think everybody should definitely clap for that once. We feel grateful for moments like this and pray that yahi hota rahe (this should continue happening)."
When a reporter stated that Pathaan smashed Brahmastra's record, Alia added, "Every film should break every film's record. I'm happy with that." Ayan Mukerji directed Alia's most recent film, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. Ranbir Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna, and Amitabh Bachchan also appear in the movie. The movie received enthusiastic reviews from the audience and brought in over 425 cr. at the box office globally.
Yash Raj Films' Pathaan includes Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana, and Dimple Kapadia. Before its January 25 release, the spy thriller faced calls for a boycott due to the song Besharam Rang. However, it was a huge box office hit, earning Rs. 591 cr. worldwide in just six days.
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, is Shah Rukh's first major motion picture release in over four years as the lead. After Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War (2019), which starred Hrithik Roshan, the film is the fourth in producer Aditya Chopra's spy series.
