After Alfonso Cuaron's ROMA got snubbed of it's well deserved best Picture award at the Oscars, chances of a foreign language film ever winning the best picture became slimmer. After all only nine foreign language films got nominated for the highest award. None have won.
However the upcoming Oscars might break this tradition. Bong Joon Ho's Parasite, a story about a poor family becoming close to a wealthy couple and betraying them later, might take away the highest film award. Hailed by critics and fans alike Parasite also has the added benefit of being a studio production. Unlike ROMA produced by Netflix.
Parasite has already won various international awards including Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or. The film must now build its reputation in the hearts of the Academy members to first get nominated.
Parasite also needs to publicize its actors and actresses more if it wants a chance at winning the prestigious award. It is only a matter of time before its fate will gets revealed.
