Manchu Manoj is one of the multi-talented actors of the Telugu film industry. Apart from acting, he pens lyrics, croons songs and also composed fight sequences for some of his films. As he turns 37 today, let us take a dive into his career.
Manoj is the younger son of popular actor Mohan Babu. His siblings, Manchu Vishnu and Lakshmi Manchu are also the established actors in the film industry. Manoj forayed into films by donning a child artist role in the 1993 film Major Chandrakanth. He debuted as a hero with the 2004 film Donga Dongadi. This comedy caper turned out to be a hit at the box office and brought wide fame to Manoj. After that, Manoj went on to feature in various films like Sri, Raju Bhai, Nenu Meeku Telusa and Prayanam.
He scored a major commercial success with his 2010 film Bindaas. In the same year, he starred in the multi-starrer film Vedam, which got directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. Manoj received Nandi Award for his performance in Bindaas. Later, Manoj made notable films like Mr. Nookayya, Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara, Potugadu, Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda and Current Theega.
Manoj's last film was the 2017 release Okkadu Migiladu. He took a three-year break from acting and making a comeback now. Manoj is currently working for the film Aham Brahmasmi. Directed by Srikanth N Reddy, this film features Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead. It is being produced by Manoj himself under his banner MM Arts. It will have a pan-Indian release in 2021.
