Star Wars is one of the most popular film franchises in India. There are many parts and spin-offs of this movie, which have hit the screens till now. One popular dialogue from the film is 'May The Force Be With You.' The fans of the franchise started celebrating May 4th as Star Wars Day as a pun on this dialogue. All fans celebrate the occasion by wishing with the catchphrase, 'May The Fourth Be With You.'
 
This phrase first got used on May 4, 1979. It was the day when Margaret Thatcher took oath as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. After her oath, a news publishing company wrote, "May The Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations." Then it was again used in a parliament debate in the UK on May 4, 1994. Later, popular author Jeanne Cavelos wrote the statement in his book, 'The Science of Star Wars.'
 
In 2008, a few Facebook groups have got created, to celebrate the occasion. The first official celebration of Star Wars Day happened in 2011. The event took place in Ontario, Canada. From then, it is being celebrated as an annual event every year. Fans convey wishes on this day. They play games and share trivia on the occasion. Since 2013, Walt Disney observes this day as a holiday. It also conducts various gala events at Disney Land.
 
This year, there will be no outdoor celebrations. Fans will celebrate the occasion only through social media. The last film that had hit the screens from this franchisee was the 2019 movie Star Wars: The Rise of the Sky Walker.
