We all are aware that popular director Bala helmed the remake of Arjun Reddy initially and named it as Varma. As the producers didn't like it, they shelved his version and shot the entire film with new cast and crew. Unfortunately, the new version bombed at the box office. Now, the producer of the film, Mukesh Mehta is planning to release Bala's version. He is currently planning to take the film to the censors.
Speaking in an interview with the Film Companion, Mukesh Mehta stated that there are still a few issues with Varma which need to get sorted out. The makers don't want the film to limit to the OTT users. They want it to screen for the television audiences as well. Thus, they are taking it to the censors soon. However, Mukesh added that they are yet to take a decision on the theatrical release though.
When asked whether he would take the blame if Bala's version becomes a success, Mukesh said that he will take the blame and appreciate the audience's verdict. He also added that as a star hero's launch is getting launched with the film, they didn't want to take a risk with Bala's version. Thus, they entirely shot the film as a replica of the Telugu original. The film released with a normal buzz and it did not farewell.
Anyways, it is now confirmed that Bala's version of Varma will either release in theatres soon or will be available on the OTT and television platforms.
