Bimbisara Marks A Half Century At The Box Office

The success of the Tollywood film 'Bimbisara,' written and directed by debutant Mallidi Vasishta, has helped the industry survive. The film, which reportedly grossed close to Rs 12 crores on its opening day, has been doing well at the box office thanks to positive word of mouth and reviews from critics.

The four-part franchise film had all the ingredients to draw families and masses to the theatres. It helped the film reach a half-century box office run in Tollywood. Due to its positive reviews, the producers are also reportedly planning to dub and release the film in other languages.

The film has completed its eleven-day box office run, earning over Rs 1.75 crores on the eleventh day. Due to Independence Day, the crowd was reportedly larger yesterday. However, due to it being a busy weekday today and reportedly around 40% - 55% occupancy the previous day, it will see a drop in its collections, as with the other movies.

The fantasy action film, starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Catherine Tresa, Samyuktha Menon, and Prakash Raj, tells the story of a 5th century King 'Bimbsara' and his time travel to the modern-day world for a reason.

Chota K. Naidu handled the film's cinematography, MM. Keeravani handled the background score, and Chirantan Bhatt composed the music. Tammi Raju edited the film.
