Since Baahubali's massive success there is a new trend created which paving a way for larger scale films and larger than life roles. Padmavathi which was released last year earned exceptional success at Boxoffice. Sanjay Leela Bhansali known for his gigantic scale of films was back with a bang in his territory. Kangana Renaut's Manikarnika released on Friday receive positive reviews is also a period movie made on large scale. The movie is based on a story of Jhansi Rani, showcased the patriotism in a terrific way. There is a number of films announced in Bollywood based on period-historical drama.
Kalank
Kalank movie is all about India and Pakistan after and before the partition of these two countries. Kalank movie has a terrific star cast with Sanjay Dutt – Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt – Varun Dhawan and Sonakshi Sinha – Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead. This movie will be directed by 2States fame Abhishek Varman and produced by nonother than Karan Johar which he also said it is his dream project. This movie all set to release on April 19th of this year. KJo's other production Takht which is based on Mughal era also a historical drama, which will release next year.
Kesari
Akshay Kumar in Kesari is also a periodic film which describes the courageous war fought in the period of British Raj. Akshay Kumar will play the role of Sikh soldier who fights Battle of Saragarhi on the side of British against Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. This movie also stars Parneeti Chopra. This movie is set in 1897, which is all set to release on Mar 21st.
Panipat
Ashutosh Gowarikar who is more interested in historical dramas, well known for his Jodhaa Akbar taking is again back with the movie Panipat. This film basic plot revolves around the war fought between the Marathas and the Mughal army of Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1761. Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, Krithi Sanon will be seen in lead roles. This will hit the screens in Dec 2019.
Tanaaji - The Unsung Hero
This movie was set in Maratha Era in 1670AD, Ajay Devgn plays the famous Maratha Warrior Tanaaji Malusure who sacrificed his life for the sake of Marathas and trounced Mughals. He was called as Lion/Sinha among Marathas as Sinhagad fort was named after him in tribute to him. This film will be released in Nov 2019.
