Chinmayi gets trolled again for her mother’s statement

Popular singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripaada is a known face across the country. When the #MeToo wave hit India, she was one of the very few celebrities who came out with their story and also shared many horrific accounts on her Twitter profile which exposed sexual predators in all fields.

Ever since she spoke against influential Vairamuthu, she got ostracised and almost out of work for about a year. The Court has given an interim junction against her ban from the Dubbing Union and things have finally started to look up for the talented artist.

Now, she is once again in the news over her mother’s comments against Periyar. At a television show, her mother Padmhasini said that she would never forgive Periyar for abolishing the Devadasi system. Hatemongers have landed on her Twitter profile and are attacking her.

Chinmayi said, “I am not responsible for my mother’s actions. If you disagree with her disagree with her, please do. She is capable of speaking for herself. I don't defend her views or support. My mom’s views are her own and I openly disagree with a lot of her PoVs. In one family there can be people with multiple PoVs that they defend to the end. My home is no different. (sic)”
