Cine Musicians’ Union is fuming on popular music director Anirudh Ravichander for not using its members and opting foreign musicians for the album of Rajinikanth's 'Darbar' movie. This has come to the notice of everyone, just after the pre-release event of the movie that took place in Hyderabad.
Union president Dhina said that about a month-and-a-half ago, they had requested Anirudh (also a member of Cine Misucians Union) to use musicians from the union for Darbar and Anirudh agreed. Even a month ago, the executive committee members of the union submitted a letter to him, urging him to use the union members only to which he agreed. But, the committee members got shocked to learn that the re-recording works of the film got completed and Anirudh used only four of the union members. Dhina claimed that there are 1,200 members in the union. Nearly 400-500 musicians will get work if it is a big star’s movie like 'Darbar'. The union members are likely to remove Anirudh's membership in the union.
“Even musicians like Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman take foreign musicians and committe members equally. But Anirudh has almost boycotted the union musicians this time,” Dhina lashed out at Anirudh. We have to see how Anirudh responds to the issue.
