Dabboo Ratnani recently revealed his 2020 calendar. Featured in the calendar is Kiara Advani who is posing with only a leaf. After the release of the calendar there was criticism on social media on the way Kiara is appearing in it. Some people created memes and trolls out of it. An international photographer Marie Bärsch claimed that the concept of the photograph plagiarised. She uploaded a photo of her work on her Instagram story and captioned it saying, "I just leave that there." Because of this, Dabboo is being called a copycat and plagiarist by a lot of people.
The plagiarism accusations have been serious. To deal with this, Dabboo Ratnani who remained quiet for long, broke his silence by releasing old pictures of Tabu. Ratnani claims that the pictures of Tabu are from 2001 where Tabu too posed only with a leaf covering her body.
He mentioned in his caption, 'Beautiful @tabutiful for #dabbooratnanicalender 2002 #lovenature This timeless & mesmerising shot of Tabu was taken in the year 2001 and it featured in my calendar in the year 2002.' To fight against the plagiarism accusations, he has defended himself by saying he is repeating his own concept. If the audience is unable to accept it, then he claims he has plagiarised only his own content. He mentioned the following in the caption, 'if at all that doesn’t go well with trolls, then I admit to plagiarising MY OWN SELF #loveandpeace @dabbooratnani @manishadratnani Huge Thanks to my friends who trust me! That’s all that matters'
